Privacy policy

Information we collect

• Account details you give us: name, email, and password (stored as a hash), or your Google profile basics if you sign in with Google.
• Plant content you create: photos (kept as small thumbnails), readings, rooms, window directions, care logs, and notes.
• Settings: climate, hemisphere, reminder preferences, and household emails.
• Billing status from Stripe: plan, period, and customer reference. We never receive card numbers.
• Basic technical data: IP address for rate limiting and security, held in memory and server logs for a short time.

How we use it

• To identify plants, build care rhythms, read sick leaves, and send reminders you turned on.
• To run, secure, and improve the service, and to answer you when you write.
• We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.

AI providers

To produce a reading we send the photo and your spot details to a vision model provider (currently OpenAI and, as a fallback, Anthropic). They process it to return the reading. We use API settings that exclude your content from model training where available.

Service providers

Vercel (hosting and storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and the AI providers above. Each processes data only to provide their service to us.

Retention and your rights

We keep your data while your account exists. You can export or delete it anytime from Settings. Depending on where you live (including California and the European Union) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to processing. Email privacy@getfernfriend.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Fernfriend is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
